How to convert WebP to PNG
- Drag your WebP files into the box, or choose Browse files.
- Keep the transparency, or resize the image if you like.
- Select Convert images.
- Download each PNG file, or use Download all as one ZIP.
Why convert WebP to PNG
PNG is accepted by almost every editor, app and website, and it keeps every pixel exactly as it is. Converting WebP to PNG is a simple way to edit an image or use it where WebP is not supported.
Private and free
The conversion happens in your browser. Your images are not uploaded to ImgNexa, and there is no account or watermark.
Where WebP to PNG helps most
The most common case is a logo, icon, sticker or screenshot you saved from a website. The file arrives as WebP, your design tool or office program refuses it, and PNG is the quickest way to get it open again without adding more quality loss.
It is also a good first step before editing: convert once to PNG, make your changes, and save the final version in whichever format you need.
What changes and what does not
- The picture itself is not degraded. PNG is lossless, so nothing more is thrown away.
- The file will usually be larger than the WebP, sometimes several times larger. That is normal.
- Detail already lost when the WebP was first created cannot be restored.
- Animated WebP files become a single still image.
Tips
- If the PNG is too big, use the Resize option to lower the pixel size.
- For a photograph where transparency is not needed, WebP to JPG gives a much smaller file.
PNG, WebP and transparency
WebP can hold transparent areas, and so can PNG, which makes PNG the safe target for logos, stickers, icons and cut-out product pictures. After conversion the see-through parts stay see-through, so you can place the image on any colour in a design tool or a slide.
The trade-off is size. PNG is lossless and has no smart compression for photos, so a converted photograph can be several times larger than the original WebP. That is normal and not a sign of better quality: the PNG simply stores every pixel. If transparency does not matter for your picture, JPG is the smaller choice. If you need a clean copy for editing, or an app rejects WebP, PNG is the one to use.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free to convert WebP to PNG?
Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it.
Is transparency kept?
Yes. PNG supports transparency, so transparent areas in your WebP stay transparent.
Will the PNG be larger?
Usually yes, sometimes several times larger, because PNG does not compress photos as much as WebP. The picture itself is not degraded. For photos that need no transparency, WebP to JPG gives a much smaller file.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs in your browser and your files stay on your device.
Is there a limit on how many files I can convert?
You can add up to 20 files at once, each up to 25 MB.
Does WebP to PNG improve the picture?
No. It stores the image without further loss, but it cannot bring back detail that was removed when the WebP was made.
